This volume is designed as a practical guide not only for the physician but for professional workers in the field of child psychology. It brings together from many sources and from the clinical experience of the authors (both medical doctors and pediatricians) helpful information on the psychologic aspects of child care. Although the principal purpose is presentation of the clinical management of behavior disorders, consideration is also given to psychologic development and normal variability and to psychologic care.
Common problems such as eating habits, enuresis, thumb-sucking, and difficulties of adolescence are included as well as many disturbances less often encountered. This dictionary of psychological terms is suitable for the counselor. It is not as large nor as comprehensive as the dictionary edited by Horace B. English.
Jacobsen, Margaret B.: The Child in the Christian Home, Scrip-ture Press, Wheaton, 1959.
This 200 page book is thoroughly Christian. It contains many photographs and deals primarily with children between the ages of one and ten.
It discusses many practical problems of younger children in the Christian home. It is useful as a guide in counseling parents. It also lends itself to parent and teacher study groups.
